Annotatıon Of Usûlî’s "Var İmiş" Redıfıed Gazel and Its Examınatıon In Terms Of Sufism

Abstract

Divan poetry is the form that the common literary tradition formed within the framework of Islamic culture has taken in the hands of the Turks. This tradition of poetry succeeded in gaining a national and local feature in the Ottoman geography and created an enormous amount of work. This tremendous accumulation of our old poets includes many couplets that the reader will enjoy reading. It is not possible to attribute only one meaning to a literary work, especially poetry. Gazelles are the most popular verse form of Divan poetry. When a journey of meaning goes into the depths of ghazals, it is seen that they have very rich content in terms of Sufism. In the commentaries and analyzes of literary texts, especially the ghazals, at first glance, they appear to describe a purely human love. However, it is seen that ghazals have very rich content in terms of mystical elements when a journey of meaning is made towards the depths. In this study, we will try to annotate Usûlî's ghazal with "Var İmiş" redif and examine it in terms of its mystical meanings. If Sufism plays an active role in the formation of Usûlî's personality, this situation is equally important when it comes to his poetry. Sufism is a very important element in his poems. Sufism is in a position that can be seen clearly on the surface, not in the depths, as in the poems of Fuzûlî and Nâilî, who lived almost in the same century, in his poems. That's why Usûlî's poetry is a kind of statement poetry, woven with messages.
